Project objectives: · The project is facilitating the formalization of the Gender Institute within the Faculty of Social Studies at the University of Tirana, by transforming it beyond a network of professionals to an organized functional unit, able to conduct policy research and to deliver courses. These academic and training programmes are offered for university students as well as professionals from the government and civil society sectors. The project is supporting the deployment of international lecturers to work alongside nationals in delivering the first MA programme In Gender and Development. · Based on the recommendations of the Policy Analysis of the Ministry of Education, the project is assisting and advising departments of the Ministry to initiate a process of incorporating a gender sensitive approach within the overall sector of education. The focus is the process of revising the curricula and textbook review criteria · The project is aiming through the collaboration with Education and Social Sciences Faculties and Regional Departments of Education, to lead a process of training teachers and lecturers on how to work with gender sensitive curricula and programme, how to approach the students and pupils with a more sensitive and realistic gender participatory model and how to address gender inequalities and stereotypes that are transmitted through traditional gender roles and models. |

Drawing up on the previous experience during the first phase of the project “Capacity Building for Gender Mainstreaming” on working with TIPA, the project will facilitate a series of training with civil servants on different issues related to gender policies and development of programmes and strategies that take into consideration and address gender realistically the gender components . |
